These are a few of my favourite things;

Black bear finds a man, dead in his car, and decides to eat the body. Police set traps and plan to kill the bear. How will they be able to tell if they have caught the flesh eating bear? And how can you justify killing an animal for using it’s primal instincts?! That poor bear probably thought he hit a jack pot, now he’s going to die… Boo you over powered humans.

Sled-dog executioner Bob Fawcett scheduled for next court date in North Van **graphic material**

Read this article this morning, and I can’t believe I forgot about this. I then reread the original article, and I almost lost my breakfast. The fact that this man worked with the dogs closely, and then took the actions to kill them, in such a gruesome manner (described in the original article) is so hard to believe. All I can think about is how could you dare make a WCB claim of post-stress disorder when you agreed to do it in the first place. Are you that ignorant? And the fact that he said “the cull was made for economic reasons”. Are you kidding me?! Huskies are a fairly pricey dog, and many many people would have rescued them. Let alone, these dogs were involved in the 2010 Olympics, he probably could have made decent money off of them. While the original article does say it was managements decision to euthanize the dogs, he still agreed to do it. And by execution and cut throats, he must be one twisted man. Sorry sir, we have no use left for you on this planet, does this mean we get to brutally murder you? and your co-workers, while you all watch each other die? This world can be a sick, sick place.

Angus and Julia Stone - You’re the one that I want

A wonderful cover.

Easier said than done.

I had a few thoughts while working out today.

Will power is a magical thing, but without persistency and focus the mind is discouraged quickly. At the first sign of failure hope is lost and negativity floods the brain. Thoughts of “it’s not possible” begin to drown out any drive and it only spirals downward from there. However, staying patient, and appreciating that the strongest sense of reward comes from goals that take time, is key to success.

It seems one of our generations traits is that we want everything here and now ASAP. We have no gratitude for the things that take time, and we prefer to do as little effort as possible for a short term reward. Instead of working hard to a goal that will in turn be more satisfying. The problem is trying to obtain the patience to do so.

Angus and Julia Stone - Chocolates and Cigarettes.

This album is a favourite of mine, and this specific song even more so.

Today is truly a day of change. Both with my wardrobe (I’ve changed back and forth like 5 times between 3 different outfits) and with my life. Big things are happening for this kid. Finish college and get a second job all in one day. Yes, I am gloating a bit :)

Two more days, and I will have a college diploma. I originally went in this course to figure out what I want to do in life. However, the exact opposite happened. I now know many things I don’t want in life. And while my direction towards a career is just as unclear as before I entered this program, I’m glad I took it. I think I had forgotten how I felt in high school, how I hate being trapped in one place, feeling like I’m strapped down. I forgot how much I hate being in a set pattern and when I’m forced to be it feels like the life is being sucked out of me. I’m so glad I will be done. I know I need to work, and earn money, but I will at least have time to focus all my energy onto better things. Being stuck in school shows me how much I hate a structured life style, and how much I crave the arts, and creativity. Freedom, I’ll see you in two days.

A little overdue.

April 5th, 2012, I went AWOL at the commodore ballroom. With doors opening at 8, we made our way in and had a drink, or two. The show didn’t start till 9:30 which was great for the bar revenue. We had no idea who the openers would be so we curiously made our way to the floor. Red Vienna, a band from Vancouver. At first, we were a little hesitant, but after a few songs the crowd was bobbing along in enjoyment. I kind of thought the lead singer sounded something like Depeche Mode, maybe that’s just me though. By the end of their set I quite liked their music, I thought it had a kind of sound that would be great for a movie sound track.

Then out came AWOLNATION. The pit was packed, and my god by the end was it ever sweaty. That was one of the most devoted crowds I have ever been apart of. Everyone was so into the music, it was an amazing feeling. An AWOLNATION did a great job. Sail was exactly up to par, and there were a few songs I had never heard before. I think I was most excited for Guilty Filthy Soul, it’s such a fun song. Definitely one of my favourite concerts and if you ever get the chance to go do not miss it! Devoted AWOLNATION fan for sure.
